Every so often we as sports fans need to be reminded what the power of sports really is, and why we love them as much as we do.

Last night in Houston the Astros were hosting the Seattle Mariners. Astros second baseman Jose Altuve met with a fan named Dillon before the game who has terminal cancer and may not live much longer. He told Altuve he was going to hit a home run, though Altuve was skeptical as he had just hit one the night before.

However…

Aren’t sports wonderful sometimes?

That was Altuve’s ninth homer of the season, and quite possibly his best so far. Unfortunately the Astros lost 6-3, but it won’t change what was a great night for Dillon and Altuve.

Go sports!
