After a bit of a slow start to the 2023 season, the 2022 World Series Champion Houston Astros have turned things around. The Astros enter Thursday with a 66-49 record, which puts them in second place in the AL West. Currently, they own one of the three AL Wild Card spots.
Outfielder Kyle Tucker has played a significant part in the turnaround, hitting .321 with 14 home runs and 17 stolen bases since June 1, including a go-ahead grand slam in the ninth inning Tuesday evening to push Houston past the Baltimore Orioles.

On Wednesday, Astros General Manager Dana Brown made his intentions clear regarding Tucker’s future with the Astros. Brown was a guest on Sportstalk 790’s Sean Salisbury Show and praised the two-time All-Star, saying, “Let’s say this: Kyle Tucker will be a Houston Astro for his career. I think he really wants to stay here, I think we’ll get something done. We are focused on getting to the postseason, winning the division, and getting deep into the postseason right now. But at the end of the day, we feel strongly that we’ll get something done”
Brown and Tucker have plenty of time to work out a contract extension, as Tucker isn’t eligible for free agency until after the 2025 season. By extending Tucker prior to that, however, both sides would be able to have long-term security.
