The 2018 Baltimore Orioles are very, very bad.

After Monday night’s loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Orioles are 37-88, and 50.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. The Orioles were eliminated from winning the AL East on Aug. 10.

But there’s the AL Wild Card race to shoot for, right?! Not anymore.

The Oakland A’s won on Monday night, putting the Orioles 38 games back in the Wild Card race. The Orioles only have 37 games remaining. Baltimore has been completely eliminated from the playoffs, on Aug. 20. The Orioles’ season doesn’t end until Sept. 30.

This makes the Orioles the fastest team to be eliminated from playoff contention in the divisional era (since 1969).

Congrats to the Orioles on the achievement!

  1. WOW they are playing bad baseball in a division with two teams that will likely win 100+ games
