If this is indeed David Ortiz’s last season, you may have missed what may have been his finest performance at home during his farewell tour as today’s performance will be hard to match.

Trailing early, Ortiz launched a monster homer to get his epic day started. The homer was his 10th of the season and 513th of his career, to pass Ernie Banks and Eddie Matthews to be 22nd on the all time list.

But Big Papi wasn’t finished. In the 9th inning, with two outs, Ortiz hit a triple off the monster to tie the game at 5. This extended the game into extra innings.

And then, because this fairytale needed more, Papi crushes this game winning blast into center field to win it for the Red Sox in the 11th.

Ortiz is now batting .320 with ten homers and 33 RBI, stats impressive enough to warrant All Star consideration if not MVP consideration which makes you think maybe Big Papi should reconsider retiring.
