Billy Hamilton makes an incredible catch that we really don’t know how to describe

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton just made one of the catches of the year, with a jumping, over-the-head basket catch into the wall.

I’m not sure if that’s the best way to describe this, because there’s really no precedent to describe what Hamilton did, so just watch.

First, let me say that this was an awesome-looking catch. Now let me be a buzzkill and say that Hamilton made that a lot harder than he needed to. This isn’t a bad thing — we all got to see an awesome catch, so everyone wins— but Hamilton probably could have made that easier on himself.

But he didn’t, and by raising the difficulty, he made one of the catches of the year. Thanks for making things difficult, Billy.
