Jose Bautista has set the bar high for a new contract with the Toronto Blue Jays and does not appear to be backing down. He also has his supporters in the Toronto fanbase, and things are heating up as the days go by. It has reached a point where police in Toronto are responding to threats to a statue.

Nicholas Kharshoum, a 24-year old Blue Jays fan, posted on Twitter he would throw the statue of former Blue Jays owner Ted Rogers in the harbor if the team did not pay Bautista. Odds are probably pretty good he said this mostly in jest, but let this be a warning to us all that you should not making such threats on Twitter unless you are ready to pay the consequences.

“I can see how it was taken legitimately, but I definitely don’t think it should have been,” he told CBC News.

[…]

“I know that I said something dumb, and it is not the only dumb thing I’ve said on the internet,” he admits, bringing up another recent post where he suggested a soccer analyst should jump in front of a train — an exaggeration he doesn’t really believe in.

Threatening a statue over a baseball contract is a pretty silly reason to have the cops called to your home or business. We all love sports people, but don’t be that guy who threatens a statue over a baseball player’s contract. Here are some other things you should avoid doing that could, or should, send the cops to your home:

  • Getting up to leave your seat in the middle of an at-bat. You people are the worst. The same holds true for those of you trying to work your way back to your seat in the middle of an at-bat.
  • Doing the wave is a first-degree misdemeanor offense. Being the person who decides to start the wave should land you in jail. You heard me. #BanTheWave
  • Posting on Twitter or Facebook you are going to run on the field if you get a certain number of retweets or likes. Idiot.
  • Forcing yourself to puke on a fan in front of you. Yeah, never be that guy.
  • Whistling during an entire World Series game.

Feel free to share your own stupid reasons to have the cops called to your home in the comment section below, or send us your best ones on Twitter.
