Wednesday marked the Major League Baseball debut of Brett Baty, one of baseball’s top prospects. The rookie third baseman didn’t waste any time endearing himself to his teammates on the New York Mets or the team’s fans.

Baty’s first at-bat came in the second inning of Wednesday’s game with the Atlanta Braves. The first offering from Atlanta’s Jake Odorizzi was a ball. The second pitch was in the strike zone and Baty attacked, sending it over the right field wall for a home run.

That sparked an unforgettable reaction from his family, who was on hand in Atlanta.

And while it’s always great to see someone hit his first home run — especially in his first at-bat — the reaction of Baty’s family made this moment truly unforgettable.

The family’s reaction clearly resonated with several in the MLB world, who loved what they saw.

Baty was nothing short of dominant at the Minor League level before getting called up. He was hitting .315/.410/.533 with 19 home runs and 22 doubles. So, chances are good that we’ll get to his Baty and his family react to plenty of home runs in the coming years.

But it’s highly doubtful that anything will ever touch the magic of this moment. That was special for everyone involved.
