The first-place Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly acquired a former All-Star as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches.

On Thursday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Brewers acquired first baseman Carlos Santana. An All-Star in 2019, Santana will go to Milwaukee after playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In return, the Pirates will land 18-year-old shortstop prospect Jhonny Severino.

Milwaukee has virtually had a need at first base ever since Prince Fielder departed the team after the 2011 season. The Brewers likely won’t have long-term stability with Santana, but they beefed up their team. Santana has a high OPS and plays excellent defensively. He has plenty of experience, as he’s in the 14th year of his MLB career.

In 2019, Carlos made the All-Star team. He finished the season with a .281 average and a .911 OPS, both ranking as career highs.

It is humorous that Santana is going to Milwaukee. Earlier this season, he hit a walk-off against the Crew and had an absolutely hilarious dance before being mobbed at home plate.

The Brewers are also Santana’s fourth team in the last two seasons. He’s played for the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, the Pirates, and now the Brewers. Since 2018, he’s played for six different teams when including the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies. A well-traveled individual Carlos Santana is, and now after this trade, the Brewers look a bit stronger.
