If anyone ever thought “The Bachelor” of all things would bring those of different cultures together and bond them tighter than they were before, you’d probably be considered as crazy as the contestants on the show. But Phil Hughes and his Minnesota Twins teammates did just that with their new teammate, Korean rookie infielder Byung Ho Park, even if Park was a bit confused about the whole experience.

Hughes hosted the party with a few of his other teammates, and he live-tweeted the evening. (If you are a fan of the show, the tweet stream contains spoilers).

Park’s interpreter was there with him although I bet he was as confused as Park was watching the entire spectacle unfold before him.

He’s got the dog thing down pat though. Via MLB.com, his interpreter J.D Kim explained the night for Park:

“He wasn’t quite sure what ‘The Bachelor’ was, and even after we explained it to him a little bit, he still wasn’t really on board with it [laughs]. But we just thought it would be cool to have him over. I can only imagine how hard the transition is to a different country and not knowing the language well. …

“The one thing he did say was he was telling us that in Korea they don’t really kiss multiple women, but we told him we don’t really do that here, either. I told him this is like the one exception. It’s sort of encouraged. But that was his one take on ‘The Bachelor’ and it was pretty funny.”
