Cardinals Lars Nootbaar surprised with video chat with mother on Mother's Day.

The world of sports can be a difficult one for players that often miss out on holidays with their families. However, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar had a special moment with his mother that caught the attention of the MLB world.

The Cardinals were set to face off against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball. Ahead of the game, Nootbaar did an interview with ESPN’s Eduardo Pérez where he talked about what his mother means to him.

“She means everything to me,” said Nootbaar. “She is everything to me really. She’s my rock, she’s my best friend.”

Nootbaar was then in for a surprise, as the pictures of his mom on the screen quickly shifted to a video call with his mother.

He then noticed that it was live after his mother waved to him through the camera. He quickly got emotional about the very cool moment.

“You’re getting me emotional right now. I don’t know why I’m getting emotional right now. You guys are messing me up, man. This is my best friend and you’re doing this to me. I only get emotional when I see her. I love you, Mom.”

The moment aired during the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast for fans at home to witness. Many around the MLB world took notice and offered their opinion of the touching moment.

The third-year outfielder went on to have a terrific game against the Red Sox, recording three hits in a 9-1 victory for the Cardinals.
