After a record-breaking season with the New York Yankees, star slugger Aaron Judge is set to hit the free agency market this offseason. Given that Judge has spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the Yankees up to this point, it’s tough for fans to even imagine him wearing another uniform – much like Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

Given Judge’s current free agency situation, New York Yankees reporter Bryan Hoch took the opportunity to ask Derek Jeter his thoughts on what Judge should do.

“You guys know him better than I do,” Jeter said. “I’ve gotten to know him a little bit more over the past year, but I don’t know.”

While Jeter didn’t offer much in the way of a prediction, he did offer a little insight as to what Judge might be thinking.

“As an athlete, this is what you look forward to – getting an opportunity to be a free agent. Most athletes don’t even reach free agency. And then when you reach it, you have choices and you make the choice that’s best for you and your family. But I’m sure it’s probably going to be a difficult one for him, I assume. But maybe it won’t be, I don’t know,” Jeter said.

Jeter, meanwhile, reveals that he never even considered going to another team.

“I told them I wasn’t going anywhere,” Jeter said. “That was probably the first thing I told them.”

While that might not be the best negotiation tactic, it certainly adds to Jeter’s New York Yankees legacy.
