The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a ton of bright spots this season. But thus far, Mookie Betts hasn’t been one of them. And on Friday, he shared some insight into why he hasn’t exactly been himself thus far this season.
Betts stubbed his toe on Wednesday night following his team’s 7-4 road loss to the Cleveland Guardians while he was at his home. And unfortunately, this has been an issue that has become a rather serious concern for Dodgers fans after Betts spoke publicly about the injury.
The former MVP winner was held out of Friday’s game against the New York Yankees. And he will not be taking part in any game in the series, which he described in a post on social media.
Speaking on the matter on Friday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained how Betts was in so much pain that he planned to get X-rays to see whether there were any potential breaks on his toe that he stubbed.

Sure enough, the X-rays he got done on Friday determined that Betts is dealing with a fractured toe, which is expected to at least make him miss the remainder of the series against the Yankees, as he said he will likely return to the lineup “in a couple of days”.
While it doesn’t appear to be a long-term ailment for Betts, it does perhaps hinder Betts from getting back into the form that he would like to be playing at this season. Thus far, Betts has hit for just a .254 batting average, which is far below the .293 batting average he has hit for over the course of his career.
