If there was any doubt about the biggest craze of 2016 heading in to the summer, the release of Pokemon Go has put those doubts to rest. The game has even taken over sports fans’ viewing of games at the ballpark or stadium, but there’s been one problem to date – not being able to capture characters located on the field of play.
That’s where the Triple-A Durham Bulls come in though, as they are inviting fans to come on to the field this Tuesday afternoon for a big Pokemon Go event. At least the team is also tying the event to raising money for charity.

Per the team’s release on the event, the ability to get on the field to collect Pokémon will cost people $5 with the donation going to the charity Second Chance Pet Adoption.
Just how crazy are the Durham Bulls about Pokemon Go? It appears the ballpark they play in is a hotspot for the game itself.
“Over our last homestand we found that the DBAP proved to be a hotspot for Pokémon, with characters popping up in all areas of the stadium,” Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said. “The problem was, many of the Pokémon were on the field, and our fans weren’t able to catch them. With the team on the road for two weeks though, we thought this would be a perfect time to allow fans to catch the previously unattainable characters.”
Heck, even the mascot is addicted to the game.
I might be tired from the homestand, but I gotta fill out my Pokedex!
