After signing a five-year, $70 million contract with the Colorado Rockies before the 2017 season, things haven’t gone so well for Ian Desmond (well, aside from the money, of course). He’s been a negative-WAR player every season so far with the Rockies, but he shows flashes of being the player Colorado thought they were getting.

And he certainly showed his ability on Monday night against the Chicago Cubs, when he sent a Mike Montgomery pitch 486 feet, according to Statcast. It’s the longest home run in the majors this season. Yes, it’s at Coors Field, where pitches have less movement and casual flyballs go a long way, but this one was an absolute bomb that landed on the left field concourse.

That’s much more than your typical #Coors homer. It was also a go-ahead homer, and served as a crucial moment in the Rockies’ 6-5 win over the Cubs.
