Globe Life Field is still under construction in Arlington, though the Rangers are set to call it home starting in 2020. Today a fairly large-looking fire broke out at the stadium, though thankfully no injuries have been reported.

Via the Associated Press:
Arlington Fire Department Lt. Mike Joiner said the blaze was brought under control and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Manhattan Construction, the general contractor for the project, said in a statement that the fire began about 2:30 p.m. in the roof area of the stadium. The contractor said an investigation will determine the cause of the blaze.
Of course, considering the controversy over whether the stadium should have been built at all (the Rangers old park opened in 1994, and wasn’t exactly in unusable shape, and the new one used a lot of public money), some fans weren’t exactly in a somber mood.
I’ve always said that having two ballparks side by side is dumb. And now, as Dr Malcolm said in Jurassic Park , “nature has found a way….”
