The Dodgers and Giants got into a bench-clearing altercation on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, after a Yasiel Puig bat slap angered Giants catcher Nick Hundley.

During the fracas, San Francisco starting pitcher Dereck Rodriguez reportedly suffered a hamstring injury and is going on the disabled list.

Rodriguez, 26, has been having a tremendous rookie season for the Giants. The right-hander — and son of Hall of Fame catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez — has a 2.25 ERA and has been worth 2.6 WAR in 80 innings.

The 61-61 Giants already had slim playoff hopes (5% chances according to Five Thirty Eight, 2.8% chances according to FanGraphs), and losing Rodriguez for at least two turns through the rotation certainly isn’t going to help things.
