You probably heard that Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, and Ivan Rodriguez were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. But you may not have seen how Rodriguez received his call to the hall, and it’s terrific.
Shortly after it was announced that Pudge would be a part of this year’s class, Rodriguez tweeted out video of when he got the call. The moment is moving and so dang cool:
Gracias, Gracias, gracias, muchas gracias, es tan grande la emoción…. bendiciones a todos #Pudge7HOF pic.twitter.com/gGjTNJMFD4

This reaction makes sense. Based on what we know from seeing writers’ ballots, Rodriguez’s election was hardly a slam dunk. This wasn’t the case with Raines and Bagwell. This is probably why Raines had the prepared tweet ready to go.
Thank you. pic.twitter.com/BNSymKRWoL

Both are nice, but crying on the phone > a tweeted statement. Regardless, congrats to all three of these guys. They are definitely worthy of the honor.
