The Chicago Cubs went full fire sale by trading stars Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Javier Báez, and Craig Kimbrel ahead of Friday’s trade deadline. On Friday night, Rizzo cranked a 449-foot home run in his debut with the New York Yankees (and he hit another homer on Saturday). And on Saturday, Báez went yard in his debut with the New York Mets.

With the Mets trailing the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Báez crushed a two-run bomb off left-hander Wade Miley:

That ended up being a crucial moment in the game.

The Mets tied it up on a Dom Smith RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

And Brandon Drury gave the Mets a 5-4 walk-off victory with an RBI single in the 10th.

So, Báez has already played a huge part in a Mets win.

The Mets (55-48) have a four-game lead in the NL East as we head into the season’s final two months.
