Injury

Last year, Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm emerged as one of the top players in all of Major League Baseball and was even selected as the cover star athlete for the latest edition of the MLB2K baseball video game. And on Wednesday afternoon, he suffered an injury scare that had the baseball world holding its breath.

During an attempt to steal second base during the first inning of Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Minnesota Twins, Jazz Chisholm made contact with the leg of Twins second baseman Kyle Farmer during his headfirst slide and stayed on the ground afterward in obvious pain.

After the play, Chisholm stayed in the infield dirt while he was attended to by the training staff. After several minutes, he eventually walked off the field under his own power but left the game.

Chisholm did not have great luck with injuries last year either as he missed 60 games last season with a stress fracture in his lower back and later underwent surgery to repair his right meniscus.

And the latest injury left the MLB world quite concerned.

Despite the initial concern, Miami later announced that Chisholm suffered “a stinger in his right shoulder” and was “day-to-day.”
