While the New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, second baseman Jazz Chisholm was not around to see the end of the game. He was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing a called third strike. And judging by his social media activity, Chisholm did not get over the call quickly.

After working a 3-2 count against Tampa reliever Mason Montgomery, Chisholm thought he drew a walk. But while the payoff pitch from Montgomery looked to be low, home plate umpire John Bacon called it a strike.

Chisholm, who was clearly frustrated with the call, quickly began arguing with Bacon. While rules state that arguing balls and strikes is an automatic ejection, Bacon gave Chisholm some slack, giving manager Aaron Boone time to get on the field to lead Chisholm back to the dugout. But Chisholm continued to dispute the call and was eventually sent to the showers by Bacon.

But Chisholm’s frustration did not subside. In a since deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Chisholm said that Bacon’s call was “Not even fucking close!!!!!”

To be fair, the evidence does seem to support Chisholm’s case. That said, it also shows that the previous pitch, was was called a ball, could have been a strike.

Regardless, Chisholm found plenty of kindred spirits on social media.
