Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers may not be a household name, but if he keeps mashing homers the way he did Tuesday night against the Cleveland Indians, it won’t take long for the baseball world to catch on.
Gallo grabbed a hold of a pitch from Carlos Carrasco and nearly sent it across the parking lot over to the home of the Dallas Cowboys, if not for those pesky bleachers.

Gallo, a 2012 first-round draft pick by the Rangers out of high school, has only seen a couple of brief cups of coffee in the big leagues over the past two years, but he’s already showing off quite the bat power when he gets a hold of a ball. He’s getting some playing time at the start of the season due to an injury to Adrian Beltre landing on the disabled list to start the season. If he can keep doing this, the Rangers may have to find a way to keep him around even after Beltre is available. This moon shot was his eighth career home run, and six of those have traveled a minimum of 430 feet over the fences. This kid is legit.

Gallo’s blast cut the Cleveland lead to 3-2 at the time.
