Joey Gallo has a new home as the outfielder is joining the Minnesota Twins on a one-year deal.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman broke the news that Gallo is signing a one-year, $11 million deal.

After spending his first six seasons with the Texas Rangers, the Twins will be Gallo’s third team in two seasons. He was traded to the New York Yankees before the 2021 trade deadline but was a bust, hitting .159 and striking out 194 times in 140 games.
This past August, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and played in 44 games for them, hitting .162 with seven home runs and 23 RBIs.
The 29-year-old has the chance to resurrect his flailing career in Minnesota. And it’s not as though he’s that far removed from better days, having been an All-Star as recently as 2021. Certainly, the Twins are looking at his stats with the Rangers, where he boasted a .211/.336/.497 (116 OPS+) slash line with 145 home runs, and hoping he can get back to doing that.
“Joey Gallo will get $11 million in his deal with the Twins, sources tell ESPN. He’s still just 29. With a solid season this year — remember, he put up 4.7 Wins Above Replacement in 2021 — he’s still primed to do well next year. But no doubt: This is a make-or-break season,” wrote ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan.

“After the Joey Gallo signing, the [Twins] now possess all the left-handed hitting outfielders in [MLB]. Every. Single. One. Have to think there would be an additional move attached to this one,” joked The Athletic’s Dan Hayes.
