Jose Abreu home run

José Abreu just belted his first home run of the season and turned in an absolutely epic celebration.

The Houston Astros’ prized free-agent acquisition had gone homer-less this season, a long powerless stretch for the slugging first baseman. The former American League MVP’s drought finally ended on Sunday, though. Abreu clobbered a line drive to left field against the Oakland A’s that cleared the wall to give him his first homer of the year!

So what do you do after almost two months without a home run? You celebrate like a kid! Abreu raced around the bases in a full sprint, which took the eyes of the Astros announcers while he rounded the bases. He wasn’t finished either! After he stepped on home plate, he ran in and slid by the dugout entrance by a mob of his teammates, who were ready to party!

That’s an awesome celebration. You have to imagine that even for a player of Abreu’s caliber, going through that long a drought without a home run had to get to him mentally. Now that is off his shoulders, and he clearly felt that weight come off while he rounded the bases. You almost never see a full-fledged sprint around the bases in the Majors.

But José Abreu was elated and we love to see it.
