MLB The Show 17 has gone the way of NBA 2K and Madden by putting a legend, Ken Griffey Jr., on its cover. And the developers added a neat Griffey easter egg in their Home Run Derby mode.
When Griffey steps up to take his hacks, he wears his hat backwards in his signature style.

What do you think? Look legit?
Griffey is one of 15 new playable legends in the game, along with the likes of Jorge Posada (which makes this 1995-born Yankees fan feel very old), Roberto Alomar and others.
Griffey’s backwards hat was such a central part of his image that the National Baseball Hall of Fame considered including it on his plaque for his induction last year. But in the end, he got a normal plaque with his hat facing forward.

Ken Griffey Jr.’s Slugfest on Nintendo 64 was a classic, but I have to give props to The Show for bringing him back in an appropriate way.
Next up, NBA 2K needs to put Griffey into its dunk contest mode.
