The Los Angeles Dodgers opened the second half of the season with a victory, defeating the San Francisco Giants 9-6 on Thursday night. One of the game’s biggest hits came from Trayce Thompson. Following that hit, his brother, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, hilariously praised his brother.

After leading the Giants for the entire game, the Dodgers were stunned by a game-tying five-run rally by San Francisco in the seventh inning, capped off by a grand slam from Darin Ruf. The Giants then took the lead in the next inning, leaving the Dodgers on the wrong side of a 6-5 score heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Then, Thompson came to his rescue, delivering a two-out, RBI triple to tie the game.

That prompted a shoutout from Klay who noted simply, “Thompsons love triples.”

Indeed, they do. Klay is one of the greatest three-point shooters ever. His 1,911 career triples are 15th on the all-time list. With a good season in 2022-23, he could easily move into the top-15 and possibly top-10. Not bad for a guy who’s only 32 and missed nearly three full seasons.

For Trayce, triples been a little harder to come by.

Trayce does have the edge over his brother in another odd cross-sport comparison.

The night finished well for Trayce and the Dodgers. He scored what proved to be the winning run on a three-run homer by Mookie Betts. That put Los Angeles up 9-6, which was the final.
