Well, this is just absolutely horrifying. Kris Bryant is one of the best players in baseball, and has been one of the consistent bright spots for the slow-starting Chicago Cubs this year, but he was forced to leave Sunday’s game at Coors Field after being beaned by Rockies starter German Marquez in the top of the first inning.

Hopefully Bryant ends up okay. Being hit in the face or head is potentially career-threatening, and while it was reassuring that he was able to stay on his feet and wasn’t struck in the eyes or other more vulnerable areas, it’s still not a small thing.
