Following a record-breaking season with the New York Yankees last year, Aaron Judge is returning to the team once again this year, signing a massive free-agent deal with the Yankees despite several other offers. For a while, it looked like Judge could be headed to the San Francisco Giants. And it sounds like even some of the players thought it was going to happen.

Giants pitcher Logan Webb was asked about the offseason ordeal involving Aaron Judge, and he revealed that the team was “butthurt” that Judge ended up signing with the Yankees.

“I personally thought we had a pretty good shot, but that’s how things go,” Webb said according to MLB.com. “I think we had an outside chance to start with. I get that.… But there were some times during the offseason where I really did think we were going to get him. It was tough, for sure. I think all of us in that meeting were butthurt a little bit because we all thought we did a pretty good job.”

It’s a pretty brutally honest admission from Webb and a peak into what the locker room was feeling at the time. Perhaps Judge’s decision could set up a potential rivalry between the two teams going forward.
