The Seattle Mariners made a bold move on Wednesday night, trading for Eugenio Suarez to form one of the most dynamic power duos in all of baseball with Suarez and Cal Raleigh in their lineup.
The Mariners now have two players in Raleigh (41 home runs) and Suarez (36 home runs), who are in the top five in all of baseball in home runs on the year, which should certainly scare opposing teams for the rest of the season.
Only time will tell how great the duo of Raleigh and Suarez will look as teammates. But at least on paper, they are rivaled by only two Yankees legends in terms of how historically great their power should be as teammates.
The Mariners are now set to have two players on their team with at least 35 home runs entering the month of August. The only other team who has ever had two players with at least 35 home runs was the New York Yankees in 1961 with Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle.
Cal Raleigh has 41 HR this season. Eugenio Suárez has 36.
The Mariners would be the second team in MLB history to enter August with 2 players on their squad having 35+ HR (counting HR with any team).

Interestingly, the 1961 Yankees of course went on to win the World Series that year, which fares quite well for the Mariners chances as we approach the home stretch of the 2025 MLB season.
Will the Mariners do the same? Only time will tell. But clearly, the Mariners have made their starting lineup a force to be reckoned with.
