The New York Mets have a lengthy and somewhat tumultuous past with former All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltrán, but it appears that the former slugger will be returning to the organization once again.

According to a New York Post report, Beltrán will be returning to the Mets organization in a front-office role alongside general manager Billy Eppler. He spent the 2022 season in an analyst role at YES Network, but he will instead work with the New York Yankees’ crosstown rivals.

Beltrán was famously hired as the Mets’ manager in 2019 but was abruptly fired before the season due to his involvement in the Houston Astros’ cheating scandal.

He also spent seven seasons with the Mets organization as a player, which was perhaps the best stretch of his 20-year MLB career making five All-Star games during his tenure.

A reunion between the Mets and Beltrán is something that Mets stars Francisco Lindor and Edwin Diaz have been calling for.

“Would I like him to be with the team? Of course. One hundred percent,” said Lindor back in September via SNY.

“Of course,” said Diaz when asked about Beltrán potentially returning. “He knows so much about baseball. He can help the youngest players to develop. I think he should be in the Hall of Fame.”

The MLB world took notice of this hire by the Mets, and overall fans appear to be pleased by his return to the organization.

Considering the impressive resume Carlos Beltrán has produced at the MLB level, he certainly could be a valuable asset for the Mets organization in a front-office role.
