Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested early Tuesday morning on a domestic violence charge, according to NorthJersey.com. Authorities have filed a complaint in Fort Lee, NJ Municipal Court against the Mets’ star.

In the complaint, police said Familia caused “bodily injury to another” and that they observed scratches to the chest and bruises to the cheek of the victim.

“The matter was brought to our attention and we are monitoring the situation,” the Mets said in a brief statement on Tuesday.

Familia was recently featured in a video with high-profile New York athletes campaigning against domestic violence. Here is Familia’s video:

The alleged incident took place in Fort Lee on Monday morning, and officers say that they responded around 2:30 AM to an apartment after being called about “a dispute”. Police say in their complaint they had found probable cause “to believe that domestic violence has occurred”. Familia was living in his apartment with his wife Bianca and their one year old son at the time.
