New York Mets owner Steven Cohen will hold court later Wednesday for a rare press conference. Cohen’s availability surprised many when he made the massive announcement on Tuesday. As the Mets spiral, the team has had several crazy things happen to them. A bizarre twist emerged on Wednesday… for some apparent reason.

“For some reason, ahead of Steve Cohen’s 4 p.m. news conference, the Mets have swapped out the usual normal table that Buck Showalter sits at for this Mets-branded high top (and baseball mitt chair),” Mets reporter Tim Healey said.

An extremely odd choice, to say the least. Several took to Twitter to voice their reactions to the crazy setup.

“They should put up a Festivus pole because Steve is for sure beginning this thing by airing some grievances,” one Twitter user said.

“So excited for this, I love drama,” another fan said.

“The Mets are starting a Cohen’s Corner show?” guessed one user.

“It would be a great bit for Steve Cohen’s announcement to be they’re moving to Vegas,” a fan joked.

“Disappointing. Was hoping Cohen would sit on a school chair backwards and ‘rap’ with us,” a fan ‘bemoaned.’

Needless to say, the Mets and hilarity are a perennial combo. That trend continued on Wednesday ahead of Steve Cohen’s presser. The only hope now is that the press conference itself doesn’t bring anything else like this.
