The Baltimore Orioles’ grounds crew at Camden Yards was getting ready to prepare for a rain delay on Wednesday night, but umpire Tim Timmons wasn’t having any of it.
When the grounds crew was preparing to roll out the tarp, Timmons kicked them off the field. One pitcher later, a downpour arrived, of course. It’s almost like the grounds crew knew that was going to happen!

The grounds crew was ordered off the field from behind the tarp and a pitch later we’ve got very thick rain

With this game in the ninth inning, Timmons was clearly very intent on finishing it, rather than risk a lengthy rain delay.
After the grounds crew incident, the Yankees scored two runs in the ninth and won 4-3. And right when the game concluded, the grounds crew returned to bring out the tarp.
Gutierrez strikes out. Orioles lose No. 99. In head-shaking fashion again. 4-3 to Yankees. And the Orioles grounds crew gets kicked out during a rainstorm, but then comes back in after the game. Wacky Balmer.
