The fun little gimmick late night host John Oliver has initiated to poke fun of the New York Yankees and the premium seats directly behind home plate has been a fun little distraction to the start of the new baseball season. The Yankees have finally responded.

First, it is important to note Oliver is taking aim at the Yankees and their elitist premium seating options, which are typically left with empty seats during the course of a game and the attitude Yankees leaders have shared regarding their top-level seating options.

Oliver bought two tickets to choice seats behind home plate for each of the first three games of the baseball season, and he sold them to viewers for a quarter. Fans have shown up in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumes and Katy Perry sharks. Today’s ticket holders arrived fashionably late in their dinosaur attire. The Yankees issued a response on the big video board in Yankee Stadium during Wednesday’s game and later highlighted as fans of the game.

This is the first time the Yankees have responded to Oliver’s ticket fun, and given Oliver only bought tickets to the first three games, this will likely be the end of this little distraction, but we can hope for more fun like this later this season.
