New York Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez took the field for the first time at the major league level on Friday, and he is already making a huge impact on this Yankees team.

Making your debut as a highly anticipated prospect for a prestigious team like the New York Yankees obviously comes with a ton of pressure. Doing so against the Houston Astros and future Hall of Fame pitcher Justin Verlander makes things even more difficult.

But Dominguez made an impact in his first at-bat against Verlander, taking him deep on a two-run opposite-field home run on just the second pitch of his first career at-bat.

Dominguez, just 20 years old which makes him the youngest player to debut for the Yankees since Melky Cabrera in 2005, has been lauded for his impressive speed and power combination throughout his time in the minor leagues. And he certainly wasted no time in showing that off.

Fans took notice of his big moment and are excited that this is a sign of things to come from him.

Just one game into his Yankees career, he has already entered the team record books. His home run off Verlander makes him the youngest player to ever hit a home run in his MLB debut.

Yankees fans have not had too much to cheer about this season, drastically underperforming to the tune of a 65-69 record coming into Friday’s game. However, it looks like their future may be in good hands when it comes to Jasson Dominguez.
