The National League Wild Card Game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets has most certainly lived up to the hype, with Madison Bumgarner and Noah Syndergaard looking like the tremendous aces they are.

Syndergaard was just about unhittable, and the numbers would support that. The right-hander threw seven shutout innings, striking out ten batters and allowing just two hits. The Giants didn’t get their first hit until a two-out Denard Span single in the sixth.

Thor’s fastball was routinely hitting 98+ mph on the night. 42 times to be exact, according to Inside Edge Scouting. That’s more times than the Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies threw pitches of at least 98 mph ALL SEASON:

Insane. Then factor in Syndergaard’s 92+ mph slider, and you wonder how anyone hits this guy.
