It’s been quite a 24 hours for Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco.

On Thursday night against the Miami Marlins, Franco hit a walk-off homer and capped it off with an epic bat flip. And on Friday night, Franco made a play of the year contender on defense.

Miami’s Magneuris Sierra hit what looked like it would get through the infield off the bat, but Franco made an incredible diving stop. It still looked like an infield single, with Franco down on the ground after the dive. But he made an incredible throw while sitting down to get Sierra at first base.

Check out this remarkable effort:

Franco’s defensive excellence helped the Phillies come away with a 5-1 victory, and they maintain a 0.5-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.
