The Philadelphia Phillies have made some big free-agent signings this offseason. On Sunday, the Phillies made some waves while another area team was busy doing the same.
Philadelphia signed former two-time All-Star Josh Harrison to a one-year deal. Harrison joins the Phillies after a one-year stint with the Chicago White Sox. MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, also of the New York Post, reported on the deal Sunday afternoon.

Harrison, a well-traveled vet, joined the sixth team in his career by signing with Philadelphia. He previously starred with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, and most recently, the White Sox across 12 years in the league.
Harrison is a career .272 hitter in 12 seasons in MLB. He’s slashed .272/.318/.398 in his career, good for an OPS of .716.
In 2014 and 2017, voters selected Harrison as an All-Star when he played for the Pirates. 2014 was the best season of his career, as he hit .315/.347/.490 with 13 home runs that season.
Harrison is a very versatile piece that could help the Phillies out well. Granted, last season wasn’t one of his best, as he hit .256 with an OPS of .687. But the Phillies are banking on a bounce-back from Harrison as they hope he’s a good depth piece for the reigning NL Champions. They’ve made some big additions this offseason and Harrison now joins them with Spring Training fast approaching.
