With the inability to attend sporting events during the pandemic, fans are getting a bit desperate to get a taste of the game. Even if that means a taste of waterways surrounding stadiums, apparently.

During the Pittsburgh Pirates’ game against the Cleveland Indians at PNC Park on Tuesday night, Gregory Polanco crushed a foul ball down the right field line. The ball landed out of the stadium and into the Allegheny River.

Well, one Pirates fan wanted the ball so badly that he decided to jump into the water.

It’s very possible that the fan thought it was a home run ball off the bat of Polanco (and keep in mind there’s no crowd to help determine that!), but it’s still a rather questionable decision. Then again, the opportunities for an in-game souvenir are pretty much impossible otherwise this year.
