The Boston Red Sox were struck with some unfortunate news on Friday regarding oft-injured star pitcher Chris Sale, who will again be heading to the Injured List.

Sale notably missed the majority of the 2022 MLB season with a number of ailments, including a right rib fracture, broken finger, and broken wrist. He returned this season and has started 11 games for the Red Sox. Unfortunately, he will again be out of action for the foreseeable future.

The Red Sox placed Sale on the 15-day Injured List due to left shoulder inflammation.

This comes after Sale’s last start on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Reds, where he was pulled in the bottom of the fourth inning after only 59 pitches.

The MLB world took notice of this news, and are seemingly very concerned about the mounting injuries he has suffered in recent years.

Sale spoke about the injury in a press conference on Friday, sounding very dejected about how another injury will be taking him away from the game.

“There is something going on with my shoulder obviously. Still have some things that I have to go through to finalize what the deal is. Obviously a hit nonetheless. I got an MRI and a CT scan, and have a couple more tests that I have to go through until we can give a definitive answer. It’s just disappointing man, I hate feeling like this. I started having fun playing baseball again and now I’m back to not having fun. That sucks.”

It’s hard not to feel for the guy considering he was once regarded as one of the best pitchers in baseball. Hopefully it will be a quick trip to the IL for Sale and he can come back in a timely manner for Boston.
