If you’re going to hit your first home run, make it a memorable one. And that’s just what Colorado Rockies pitcher Jon Gray did Wednesday night.

The third year pitcher helped out his team in more ways than one by helping out on offense. He didn’t just hit a home run in the second inning, he crushed the ball to center field.

Statcast tracked the home run at 467 feet, which is the longest for a pitcher since 2015 and the longest for the Rockies this year. And despite pitching in the hitter friendly Coors Field, it still says something to have the longest home run so far this year.

Evidently, the home run helped. Gray got the win to improve to a 2-0 record and pitched into the 6th inning. The Rockies wound up defeating the Reds 5-3.
