Hey, so Tim Tebow is still hitting some home runs in the minor leagues. It’s important to remember that it doesn’t really mean anything, for his long-term MLB futurue (which is nonexistent) but hey, hitting A-ball homers isn’t nothing.
Tebow was just promoted to the high-A Port St. Lucie Mets of the Florida Gulf Coast League, after slashing .220/.311/.336. And in his first game, he singled, which somehow resulted in an immediate wire story.
Later in the game, Tebow did this, which definitely resulted in headlines, including this very post:
That did not just happen! @TimTebow goes deep …2-run shot for the @stluciemets @CBS12 #tebowmania …call him up @Mets !! pic.twitter.com/KQifaIhDq5

Credit to Tebow: he’s certainly a big strong man. Maybe his minor league career will be a Benjamin Button situation, and he’ll just perform better as the competition gets tougher through the levels.
However, the main takeaway is this: the more homers he keeps hitting, the more it becomes obvious that the Mets are going to give him a September callup at some point, this season or next, just for the PR/ticket sales bump it would provide. This is the world we’re in.
