Tom Ricketts sure knows how to treat full-time Chicago Cubs employees right.

ESPN’s Sarah Spain tweets thatthe Cubs owner personally flew out more than 400 full-time staffers (and a significant other) via jet to all the World Series games in Cleveland, with hotel accommodations and game tickets also included. It’s an incredible gesture.

I can’t even imagine how much Ricketts paid to accommodate the staff. He’s got the money and resources to do it, but even as a billionaire, getting tickets, hotels, and flights to World Series games must have been incredibly expensive. To do it multiple times for staffers and a guest is generosity at its finest.

But Ricketts wasn’t alone in showing generosity to his team’s employees – Indians owner Paul Dolan took care of 300 Tribe employees for the games in Chicago.

Tribe owner Paul Dolan is flying all of the organization’s full-time staff members and their significant others to a World Series game, a source told cleveland.com. Half will attend Game 3 on Friday night in Chicago. The other half will attend Game 4 on Saturday night.

Dolan will pay for round-trip flights, game tickets, lunch and dinner for approximately 300 people. A source said he was prepared to follow the same plan in 2007, but the Indians fell one victory short of a World Series berth.

Ricketts understands the Cubs’ 108 year World Series drought, and wanted to make sure his staff saw their team go for the Commissioner’s Trophy. Who knows how long it will be until Chicago reappears in the World Series?

Major props to Ricketts for being so kind to his staff. Other owners across pro sports should take notes.
