On Tuesday night in Arizona, New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard gave us a nice reminder of why a pitchers’ Home Run Derby needs to happen.

With the Mets and Diamondbacks tied 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning, Syndergaard gave the Mets a two-run lead with this monster blast to right field, for his third homer of the season:

Crushed. The homer went an estimated 415 feet, with a 108.1 mph exit velocity:

The three homers are the most by a pitcher in the majors this season, and ties a Mets franchise record for homers by a pitcher.

On the mound, the NL Cy Young Candidate also did a solid job, allowing two earned runs and striking out eight over 5 2/3 innings. But it will be what Thor did at the dish that will have everyone talking.
