Robbing a home run may be the only cooler individual play in baseball than hitting a home run. So when you think you have achieved that amazing feeling of robbing a home run, but drop the ball? That has to be infuriating.

And that’s what happened with San Francisco Giants veteran outfielder Angel Pagan on Monday night in Pittsburgh. Pagan did everything right to rob a home run off the bat of the Pirates’ Eric Kratz. He timed the jump perfectly, had the ball… then dropped it over the wall.

Pagan was understandably quite unhappy about the missed opportunity, and emphatically spiked his glove. Here’s video of the scene:

The Pirates won the game 1-0, ending a Giants winning streak that had reached eight games. Had Pagan known that would be the only run scored in the game, he may have thrown his glove into the nearby Allegheny River.
