Baseball is full of unwritten rules, and one of the biggest is not showing up a pitcher with antics after a home run.

However, don’t tell that to Houston Astros outfielder Carlos Gomez, because he broke that cardinal unwritten rule in a major way in Monday’s spring training game against the Atlanta Braves.

After crushing a home run to left-centerfield, Gomez did the unusual for him and trotted around the bases. Only to follow that up by going all Cam Newton and “dabbing” as he crossed home plate.

Oh, and if you missed it at the beginning, Gomez went all bat flip over a spring training home run too boot.

I guess if you’re going to break the cardinal rule from the get-go, might as well go big at the end as well.

Gomez isn’t one to shy away from controversy or the dramatic moments in baseball. He’s also not one to take to kindly to the Braves either. He got the two teams in to a bench-clearing brawl after a home run against the Braves back in September of 2013.

He’s also one to go 1,000 miles an hour on the bases given his speed and reckless abandon. It’s also gotten him in to plenty of trouble with second basemen and shortstops who haven’t taken too kindly to him attempting to take their legs off to break up a double play or two.

Needless to say, Carlos Gomez does what Carlos Gomez wants — and circumstances, tradition or unwritten rules be damned.

I’m sure Bryce Harper would be proud of this moment.
