Giancarlo Stanton is baseball’s most powerful slugger, and the Miami Marlins outfielder gave us a nice reminder of that in a Spring Training game on Thursday against the Minnesota Twins.

Watch Stanton send a Tommy Millone offering from Jupiter, Florida to Jupiter the planet (almost):

Yep, that home run cleared a building (the Marlins’ clubhouse). One man was sitting at a picnic table on the other side of the Marlins’ clubhouse when the ball suddenly appeared (via Miami Herald):

“Whoever hit this must have been mad,” said Terrence Floyd, who was minding his own business in the clubhouse picnic grove when the ball re-entered earth atmosphere. Floyd, a friend of Marlins pitcher Edwin Jackson, was casually biding his time on the other side of the clubhouse when he heard the ball make its landing. “I didn’t know what was going on,” Floyd said. “It didn’t really scare me. I just thought, I must be hearing something, because I could have sworn I heard a baseball. And then I looked up and it was right there.”

Stanton said his homer “was a nice bomb”:

“That was a nice bomb,” Stanton said. “It felt nice.”

There was no estimated distance given of the home run, but Marlins president David Samson said that’s the first in-game homer he can remember clearing the Marlins’ clubhouse in the 17 years he’s been part of Spring Training at Roger Dean Stadum (via MLB.Com):

Counting his days with the Montreal Expos, Samson has been part of 17 Spring Trainings at Roger Dean Stadium. To his recollection, Stanton is the first player to hit the ball over the Marlins’ building in a game. Many, including Stanton, have done it in batting practice.

Stanton, 26, only played in 74 games in 2015 due to a broken hamate bone, and still finished 10th in the National League with 27 homers.
