New York Yankees left-hander Aroldis Chapman has had the best velocity in the majors since he entered the league in 2010, but he took things to another level against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
Chapman hit 105 on the radar gun, not once, but twice. He also threw 104 mph three times, and 103 once. In total, Chapman threw 19 pitches, and 15 of them were recorded at 100+ mph:
Aroldis Chapman pitches over 99 tonight:
105 mph (2)
104 mph (3)
103 mph (1)
102 mph (3)
101 mph (3)

MLB.Com’s Daren Willman said that one pitch was recorded at 105.1 mph by Statcast, tying Chapman’s own record for fastest pitch per Statcast:
Aroldis Chapman threw a pitch 105.1 MPH tonight… That’s tied for the fastest pitch ever recorded by PITCHfx or Statcast — Daren Willman (@darenw) July 19, 2016
CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa said that pitchFX had Chapman’s fastball at 105.7 mph:
PitchFX had Chapman at 105.7 mph tonight.

Whatever the case, he threw 105 mph+, and that is ridiculous. Here’s video:
Chapman could have some competition coming soon on that 105-mph record, as Red Sox prospect Michael Kopech hit 105 mph last week in the minors.
