MLB Rookie of the Year 2021

Baseball has been a well-liked sport in the US for more than a century. Every year, one player from each league receives the MLB Rookie of the Year Award. Kyle Lewis, who plays for the Seattle Mariners, won the honor last year. He had a fantastic season, hitting.259/.363/.438 with 11 home runs and five stolen bases in 57 at-bats.

In the 2021 MLB Rook, there will be a lot of talented rookie players competing to see who will be the inaugural recipients of the award. The chances of the top candidates winning the MLB Rook are discussed, and we talk about who to back for the 2021 MLB Rookie of the year, giving you a chance to weigh up all the odds, see what others are saying, and back your favorite.

Let’s start with Adolis Garcia, who is in our first place.

Adolis Garcia, Rangers

The Cuban outfielder just came off winning this year’s Wilson Defensive Player Award in left field for his performance over 1340 innings. He has excellent arm strength that helped him set a season record with throwing out 41% caught-stealing percentage, which was also the highest mark by any outfielder to have recorded at least 400 outfield innings since 2002.

His bat speed is impressive as well – he ranks fifth among outfielders in average batted ball velocity (95.2 mph) with an exit velocity of 96.8 mph on all put in play against him this year. He had the highest WAR among outfielders (4.1) this year and has recorded 87 RBIs with 22 homers, eight triples, 33 doubles, 31 walks, and five stolen bases in 477 plate appearances.

The Rangers are on their toes to make the playoffs again after their unexpected run last season, which could help Garcia land some votes for league MVP.

We predict that Garcia will WIN the 2021 MLB Rook.

Jonathan India, Reds

India continues to prove doubters wrong by being one of the top players in this year’s Rookie of the Year race. The 24-year-old has slashed .313/.369/.598 while hitting 20 home runs and driving in 78 RBIs. He has posted a WAR of 4.4, which is 14th among all position players this year.

The Reds are on the way to making the playoffs again after their unexpected run last season, which could help India win some votes for league MVP. Still, it will be tough to beat more dynamic players like Adolis Garcia of the Rangers or Randy Arozarena from the Cardinals.

We predict that India will finish in second place for the 2021 MLB Rook.

Randy Arozarena, Cardinals

The Cuban outfielder is ranking this year, leading the league in average (.322), on-base percentage (.396), slugging percentage (.521), wOBA (.449), and ISO (.294). He also had an impressive defensive play against the Phillies recently. Odds are looking good for him winning Rookie of the Year after his breakout campaign.

The Cardinals will meet these playoffs head-on after their unexpected run last season, which could help Randy land some votes.

We predict that Randy will finish in third place for the 2021 MLB Rook.

Shohei Ohtani, Angels

The young outfielder/pitcher was an impressive force when he was healthy. He hit .288/.372/.535 with 17 home runs in 307 plate appearances and posted a 2.55 ERA in his 23 starts for the Angels this season. As he has struggled to stay healthy, his odds are much longer than Arozarena’s.

The Angels are on track to make the playoffs after their unexpected run last season, which could help Ohtani make “Rookie of the Year.”

We predict that Shohei will finish outside fourth place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year.

Willie Calhoun, Rangers

The young outfielder has had a massive year for the Rangers. He has slashed .309/.368/.499 while hitting 19 home runs and driving in 73 RBIs, which is impressive considering he was traded twice this past offseason. His performance has helped power the surprising Rangers into playoff contention.

We predict that Willie will finish fourth or fifth place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year.

Isan Diaz, Brewers

The young infielder has had an impressive season for the Brewers, slashing .255/.341/.474 while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 47 RBIs. His production has helped power Milwaukee to their division lead.

The Brewers are on pace to make the playoffs again after their unexpected run last season, which could help Isan gather some votes for league MVP. Still, it will be tough to beat more dynamic players like Trevor Rogers of the Phillies or Willie Calhoun of the Rangers, who are looking strong this season.

We predict that Isan will finish sixth place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year.

Trevor Rogers, Phillies

The young pitcher is having a breakout year for the Phillies this season. He has posted a 9-2 record with a 2.90 ERA and 124 strikeouts. His play on the mound has helped power Philly to their division lead.

We predict that Rogers will finish seventh place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year.

Patrick Wisdom, Rangers

The young infielder has had an enormous year for the Rangers. He has slashed .273/.324/.548 while hitting 23 home runs and driving in 83 RBIs, which is impressive considering he was traded twice this past offseason.

His performance has helped power the surprising Rangers into playoff contention.

The Rangers will make the playoffs after their unexpected run last season, which could help Patrick come out on top.

We predict that Wisdom will finish eighth place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year.

Adalberto Mondesi, Royals

The 22-year old shortstop has had an impressive season so far. He has slashed .259/.315/.436 while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 53 RBIs.

We predict that Mondesi will finish ninth place for the 2021 Rookie of the Year, but actually, it’s anyone’s game.
