Despite showing some improvement the last couple of days, Aaron Judge is headed to the IL. The New York Yankees announced Monday they are placing the superstar on the 10-day IL.
If there’s any good news, his IL placement is retroactive to April 28, meaning he’ll miss three fewer days than he otherwise would have missed.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
• Placed OF Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 4/28) with a right hip strain.
• Recalled INF/OF Franchy Cordero (#33) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.— New York Yankees (@Yankees) May 1, 2023
Judge left Thursday’s game against the Texas Rangers after feeling something “grab” in his hip. Manager Aaron Boone said an MRI Friday revealed “good news.”
“Aaron’s doing better,” Boone said Sunday (via The New York Post). “He’s shown many improvements here over the last two days.”
Aaron Judge hasn’t shown enough improvement to be close to returning.
In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled utility man Franchy Cordero from their Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre affiliate.
Many Yankees fans are not surprised by Monday’s news but think it’s good for the team to play it safe with their franchise player.
Thank You for making the correct choice and putting Judge on the IL.

We all knew this was coming. When they say “it’s no big deal”, it is & IL is eminent

10 day? I’ll believe it when I see him on the field next week. All this for a meaningless slide.
