New York Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez has made his impact for the Yankees since being called up last week. And Yankees legend Bernie Williams had some high praise for him during Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Dominguez, a 20-year-old center fielder, made his debut last Friday against the Houston Astros. And it was a special one, taking future Hall of Fame pitcher Justin Verlander deep on his first major league swing.

Dominguez made his home debut in Yankees Stadium on Tuesday, where fans quickly embraced him once he took the field.

Bernie Williams knows all too well about the extreme pressure that comes with manning center field for the New York Yankees. But he seems to believe that Dominguez will thrive under the pressure, detailing that he thinks the top prospect has taken the big moments in stride.

“It’s still pretty early,” Williams told longtime Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay. “But he is approaching the game with a poise. He doesn’t seem intimidated. He doesn’t seem nervous. He is rising to the occasion and it is showing up.”

Williams is amongst the most respected Yankees players of all time, playing a big role in four World Series championship teams over the course of his 16-year career in New York. Considering this, the high praise from Williams towards Dominguez certainly carries a ton of weight.

It is obviously very early in Dominguez’s career, playing in only three MLB games thus far. But if he can continue to make an impact in New York, the future of the Yankees could look much brighter than some anticipate.
